Sweep Frequency Response Analyser FRAX150

Adiradh offers the Sweep Frequency Response Analyser FRAX150 for detecting mechanical and electrical changes inside power transformers. Moreover, the FRAX150 uses Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) to measure the transformer response across a wide frequency range. Therefore, engineers can compare the measured curve with earlier results, other phases, or similar transformers.

In addition, the FRAX150 offers a large dynamic range and high measurement accuracy. Consequently, it can detect subtle changes in transformer windings, cores, connections, and clamping parts. Furthermore, the unit includes an integrated PC with a high-resolution colour screen. Therefore, users can carry out testing and review results without a separate computer. Also, the strong screen backlight supports outdoor use, even in direct sunlight. Finally, the built-in Ground Loop Detector helps verify test connections before measurement. Thus, the FRAX150 provides a practical solution for transformer commissioning, maintenance, fault investigation, and condition assessment.

Overview

The FRAX150 Sweep Frequency Response Analyser is a mains-operated SFRA test instrument with an integrated PC. Moreover, it measures a transformer’s frequency response to create a unique electrical fingerprint. Therefore, engineers can compare SFRA curves and identify possible mechanical or electrical changes inside a power transformer.

In addition, the FRAX series covers a test frequency range from 0.1 Hz to 25 MHz. Also, the default frequency sweep uses 1046 test points, while users can increase the number to a maximum of 32,000 points. Consequently, detailed frequency response measurements can be performed when required.

Furthermore, a typical measurement takes about 64 seconds, while fast mode can provide results in about 37 seconds. The FRAX software also supports several forms of curve analysis and comparison. Finally, the FRAX150 includes a built-in Ground Loop Detector, which helps users check grounding and test connections before starting an SFRA measurement.

About Product

The FRAX150 is a digital Sweep Frequency Response Analysis (SFRA) instrument designed for power transformer diagnostics. Moreover, it applies a sweep-frequency test signal to the transformer and monitors its response. Therefore, the measured response creates a transformer fingerprint that can be compared with a reference measurement.

In addition, SFRA testing with the FRAX150 can help identify winding deformation, winding displacement, shorted windings, open windings, loose or broken clamping structures, core connection problems, core movement, and hoop buckling. Furthermore, Megger’s connection system uses wide C-clamps and adjustable braided grounds to support repeatable test connections.

Also, the FRAX150 includes an integrated PC and a high-resolution colour screen with a strong backlight. Therefore, users can operate the analyser in field conditions without relying on a separate PC. Finally, the built-in Ground Loop Detector helps verify proper grounding before transformer testing.

Technology & Benefits

The FRAX150 Sweep Frequency Response Analyser applies a low-voltage sweep-frequency signal and measures the transformer’s response. Moreover, different transformer parts affect the response at different frequencies. Therefore, changes in the SFRA curve can indicate possible movement, deformation, or electrical faults inside the transformer.

Furthermore, FRAX software allows users to compare several sweeps and sets of measurements. Therefore, engineers can perform previous-to-current, phase-to-phase, or sister-transformer comparisons. In addition, results can be viewed as magnitude, phase, impedance, or admittance versus frequency. Consequently, users have several tools for detailed transformer assessment.

Also, the built-in Ground Loop Detector helps verify the grounding setup before testing. Therefore, connection-related errors can be reduced. In addition, the integrated PC and high-resolution display simplify field operation. Finally, the FRAX150 supports IEC 60076-18 and IEEE C57.149, making it suitable for standardized SFRA testing.
